deserving
March 30, 2011The long, uncomfortable travel to what seemed like the Outer Banks, the hours of waiting in an open gym, and the feeling of hunger and sleepiness were all worth it.
Again, I walked with Eduard to receive two awards for him this year. Aside from being most industrious, he was also awarded as one of those “with honors.”
I once wrote a post of how proud I am of this boy (read here). His maturity is way more than his age. That he was still able to be on top of the class, despite his parents’ lack of attention (taking care of his younger brother with cancer takes a lot of time and attention), was an achievement hard to achieve.
And every year, I would be willing to take a long, uncomfortable travel, wait for hours in an open gym, and experience a little hunger and sleepiness just to pin a ribbon and give a medal to a boy who truly deserves them.

fatigue and the long wait are little things compared to his achievement.
