A Note to Ms W

Wishing I was in a different place than I am now, in my earlier entries, I expressed my wish to be one of the Nouveau Riche people. Ms W read that entry and told me that it was coincidental that she was also ranting about money problems at about the same time. Being shy to speak about it, I didn’t know if I was able to explain to her when she asked me what Nouveau Riche means (or was it about the pronunication). So here it is, Ms W: it is a French term for “new rich,” but I’m afraid I’m not quite sure as to the pronunciation. haha. But it’s a concept that appealed to me, and I’m guessing to you, because we weren’t exactly at the best times of our lives, financially I mean.

 

You ranted about working hard but not enjoying your earnings, as well as your time, enough. I completely understand you. But here’s what I’m gonna say to you: I think, out of all the copy editors in the office, you are one of the few who spent her money wisely. You spent on your family. You spent on your education. Your spending on your dreams. Just a little more than a year, and all your dreams will materialize. You would feel grateful that you had sacrificed many years for your dream. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be a Nouveau Riche someday.
